The two things worth knowing before you commit are that the free tier is ad-supported, and that the Premium price is not published anywhere on the site. The free tier is unusually complete for a browser tool: the Pomodoro timer with fully customizable work and break intervals, a task list with an estimated finish time for the day, up to three saved task templates, daily, weekly and monthly focus reports, and configurable alarm sounds. None of it requires an account for basic use. The trade-off is advertising: the free tier is ad-supported, and removing the ads is one of the things Premium is for (verified on August 13, 2026).
Premium adds project tracking with per-project reporting, yearly reports, CSV report downloads, unlimited templates instead of three, Todoist import, webhook integration for third-party apps, and an ad-free interface. The price is the odd part: pomofocus.io does not publish a rate on the site, and there is no public pricing page (checked July 27 and again August 13, 2026). Third-party directories fill the gap with figures we could not confirm at the source, AlternativeTo for instance lists a range of $3 to $54 per month, which is wide enough to be unusable as a number. Treat the directory figures as unverified and expect to reach checkout before you see the real rate.
If you want a native desktop application rather than a browser tab, Pomofocus ships downloadable apps for Mac, Windows and Linux alongside the web version. If you track several ongoing projects and need per-project reporting, or you already live in Todoist and want to pull that list into your timer, or you need CSV exports and webhooks to push session data somewhere else, Premium buys you real functionality that a free browser timer does not have. It also has years of use behind it and a large user base, which counts for something in a category full of abandoned side projects.
Three limits stand out. The free tier shows ads, which is a strange experience in a tool whose entire purpose is removing distractions. The template cap of three on the free tier arrives quickly if you run varied work. And the pricing opacity means you cannot compare Pomofocus against a paid alternative without starting a purchase flow. There is also no AI planning of any kind: Pomofocus times the work you have already broken down, it does not help you break it down.
